Explanation of Surah Al‑‘Alaq (96:1–5)
The very first revelation of the Qur’an was not a command to pray or fast, but a divine instruction to read (Iqra). This command captures the truth that in Islam, knowledge, learning, and reflection are lights that shape the believer—illuminating the path, refining the soul, and deepening our connection with the Divine.
Specifically, Verses 1–5 of Surah Al-Alaq emphasize:
